Buttermere and Haystacks Lake District Print
Buttermere lake, the low level walk round the lake is a delight. Especially if it begins and ends in the hamlet of Buttermere itself. Certainly there is ample opportunity to eat, rest and stay. Many popular high level walks start from the valley with amazing views.
Country scenes are something I like doing a lot, especially with Oils. There’s nothing like walking through the quiet serenity of a countryside. Also it calms the mind and fills me with great enthusiasm for painting. A walk is always guaranteed to make me feel creative. My style of painting is one which has developed over time and is still evolving with each new painting. I try to capture a sense of realism, of being there, with out being a slave to photo realism. It’s also important to keep pushing the boundaries of what your comfortable with, not to settle into a formula of what works.
